Communication

It should be the goal of childhood to learn not only foundational academics but also about oneself.  What are areas of strength and challenge?  What are their passions and God-given talents, and how can they contribute to the world around them in a purposeful, compassionate, strong way? We are a place where children are allowed to be children. We encourage our Lions to be their best selves every day while focusing on the Fruits of the Spirit: love,  joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in congruent with Habits of Mind such as grit, determination, perseverance, growth mindset, initiative, and productivity.

We provide a genuinely unique method of teaching. We go beyond the conventional teaching methods of lectures, assignments, high-stakes tests, and grades by utilizing the most recent advances in cognitive science and technology. Our students at Vandermont receive their education in mixed-age, collaborative classrooms. With their differentiated learning plans, each student is given a challenge by our adaptable approach, and real-world projects and experiences inspire them.

Students get the ability to create and attain their own goals while fostering independence of thinking and an enthusiasm for learning. They focus efforts on discovering who they are and what will best prepare them for life in the real world. Success isn't measured by grades but rather by how hard people strive to achieve their personal goals and the growth that is taking place.  We want kids to be kids while feeling empowered to lead purposeful lives!
